Drabble #9

Joshua walked out of Linda’s first floor apartment and into the sunshine of a cloudless day. Removing his left hand reveals a pack of Marlboro Reds, his right a white Bic lighter.
Lightning the cigarette, he took in the tobacco and exhaled a thick puff of grey smoke. The cigarettes were slowly killing him but his regret would be his undoing before the cancer could.
At the corner of Atlantic Avenue he entered the train station heading for the uptown 4 train, to which he got off at Kingston Avenue where John buzzed him up and greeted Joshua with a kiss.
